Dates:
April 10th, April 24th, May 8th, May 22nd, June 5th, June 19th
What to See:
Wildflowers and history come alive on this tour. This Washington State Park contains some of the oldest Native American pictographs (paintings) and petroglyphs (carvings) in all of the Northwest. The variety of wildflowers is outstanding.
What to Do:
The Pictograph Trail ("She Who Watches") is restricted. Access has been made available to us in the form of a 90 minute ranger guided tour by special reservation through the Park Service. The rock images are valued artifacts and considered sacred by Native Americans. We have been asked that the spiritual nature of the work be respected and the site itself be revered. This is a 1 mile hike and is rated 'easy'
How to Prepare and Be Aware:
This location can be windy, and beware of ticks, rattlesnakes (rare), and poison oak.
Just bring a windbreaker, walking shoes, your camera and a smile . . . leave your worries behind as we experience the natural beauty and explore the treasures of The Gorge!
